Our Story

Hand-cast on the Gold Coast

Arcee is where architecture meets illumination.
Born from years spent grinding, polishing and obsessing over concrete, Arcee started with a simple question:

“What if the light on the wall felt as considered as the wall itself?”

Every Arcee sconce is hand-cast in GFRC (glass fibre reinforced concrete) on the Gold Coast. The forms are minimal – soft cylinders, clean lines, quiet curves – designed to sit comfortably in modern Australian homes, boutique accommodation, and carefully detailed commercial spaces.

We’re a small studio, not a factory line. Each piece moves through our hands: mixed, packed, cured, sanded and sealed by people who care about surface, shadow and detail.

Raw, Refined

Our Material

Why GFRC, not “just concrete”?

GFRC is a high-performance version of concrete – stronger, lighter, and more refined than the heavy slabs you’re used to seeing on floors and footpaths.

  • Lighter weight – perfect for walls and architectural lighting.

  • High strength – glass fibres lock the mix together, allowing slim, sculptural forms.

  • Tactile texture – from raw, sandy finishes to refined, honed surfaces.

  • Colour control – oxides and custom blends give us subtle neutrals, deep charcoals and warm earth tones.

We chose GFRC because it behaves like architecture: calm, structural and timeless.
It lets us build lighting that feels solid and permanent, without overwhelming the space..

Our Process

From raw mix to refined light

Each Arcee piece runs through a tight, hands-on process:

  1. Batch & blend
We weigh every ingredient – cement, fine sand, glass fibre, plasticiser and pigments – for consistency across each run.

  2. Hand-pressed or poured into custom moulds
Our moulds are built specifically to sleeve over certified bases, so the concrete and the lighting hardware work as one system.

  3. Cure, de-mould, refine
Pieces are cured, then de-moulded and checked for pinholes, micro-variations and hairline imperfections – the tiny details that make each one unique.

  4. Sanding & sealing
Surfaces are sanded to the right level of “raw but refined”, then sealed for everyday living while keeping the natural feel of concrete.

  5. Fitted to compliant base lights
We work with manufacturers and Australian labs to ensure the base fittings meet local standards, so designers can specify Arcee with confidence.

It’s a balance of craft and control: enough variation to feel handmade, enough rigour to work in serious architectural projects.

Our Focus

Designed for modern Australian spaces

Arcee is built for people who care about the details:

  • Interior designers & stylists wanting sculptural, neutral lighting that plays nicely with stone, timber, render and plaster.

  • Architects & building designers specifying statement pieces that still feel quiet and architectural.

  • Boutique builders & developers working on projects where lighting, materiality and texture actually matter.

Our first family of products includes:

  • Arcee Mono – a single cylinder wall sconce, pure and minimal.

  • Arcee Duo – twin cylinders, a stronger architectural statement.

  • (And more pieces in development for 2026.)

Each piece is designed to sit in the background during the day and come alive when the lights go on – throwing soft, directional light that shapes the room.
